Chief Pamela Romanowsky met Franco at New York University while going to the MFA Film Program. In the wake of teaming up together on a short film he enlisted her to coordinate The Adderall Diaries as he had already acquired the rights.[2] On June 5, 2014 Christian Slater was set to star in the film, he'll play a man associated with slaughtering his ex-wife.[3]
Recording
The shooting of the film started on May 16, 2014 in Brooklyn.[4] On May 23, recording was in progress in New York City.[5]

Creator Stephen Elliot investigated the film contrarily saying that the last result had little in the same way as his diary and pondering "why calling the character Stephen Elliott was necessary."[6]
Discharge The film had its reality debut at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 16, 2015.[7] Shortly after the debut, its circulated rights were procured by A24 Films and DirecTV Cinema, the film would debut on
DirecTV before a showy and video on interest release.[8] The film is planned to be discharged in the United States on April 15, 2016.[9]
