Love and Friendship is an up and coming lighthearted comedy film composed and coordinated by Whit Stillman. It depends on Jane Austen's 1871 epistolary novel Lady Susan. The film stars Kate Beckinsale, Chloë Sevigny, Xavier Samuel and Stephen Fry. It focuses on Lady Susan Vernon (Beckinsale), who looks for shelter at her in-laws home while gossipy tidbits about her private life flow through society. Woman Susan then chooses to discover a spouse for both herself and her girl. The film debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2016. It is planned to be discharged on May 13, 2016, by Roadside Attractions and Amazon Studios.

Plot
Set in the 1790s, the widowed Lady Susan Vernon looks for asylum with her in-laws as bits of gossip about her private life circle through society. While staying at the home, Lady Susan chooses to get herself and her little girl, Frederica, a husband.[1]

Production
In May 2013, Whit Stillman reported his arrangements to shoot a period comedy.[3] In July, it was affirmed that Stillman was recording an adjustment of Jane Austen's Lady Susan, titled Love and Friendship. Stillman wanted to shoot the film in Britain or Ireland.[4] Unlike other Austen books, Lady Susan has infrequently been adjusted for the screen.[5] In February 2014, Amanda Dobbins from New York reported on-screen character Sienna Miller had been given a role as Lady Susan, while Chloë Sevigny would play Susan's dear companion Alicia.[6] Filming was initially planned to start in the Summer of 2014.[7] Miller later left the venture to join the cast of American Sniper.[8]

On February 2, 2015, it was reported that Kate Beckinsale had supplanted Miller as Lady Susan.
